Adjusting a rear derailleur is a simple task if you know how to do it. First off, you need to shift into the largest chainring and the smallest sprocket. Then, make sure that there is no tension on the cable so yo ucan adjust your H limit screw. To properly adjust your H limit screw you
must loosen or tighten it until the guide pulley is slightly to the right of the smallest sprocket. Then, shift to your smallest chainring and use your hands to the run the chain to the largest sprocket. Make sure there is no
tension and now you can adjust your L limit screw so that the guide pully is directly underneath the largest sprocket. After you have completed these steps you can tighten the cable using the pinch bolt to create tension. To check your adjustments, shift up one gear at a time. If the chain does not want to move up you need to rotate the barrel adjuster to create more tension on the cable. Once at the top of the cogset, begin going down the sprockets. If the chain does not want to move down the cogset, take some tension off the cable by loosening the barrel adjuster.
Finally, you can now run your gears up and down the cogset to determine if everything is proper. If everything moves smooth and the gears shift easily you can cut the end of the cable and you will be finished!
